Basotect® is a flexible, open-cell foam made from melamine resin – a duroplastic material. A typical characteristic is the intricate spatial mesh structure that is formed by thin ribs that can be bent into shape easily. Basotect® has excellent sound absorption and sound proofing properties, shows low weight, high temperature resistance and excellent flame resistance – for better room acoustics also in retrofitting.
The sound absorbing foam Basotect® improves room acoustic significantly, for example, in offices, restaurants, reception areas, meeting rooms, and airplane cabins. However, flame retardant Basotect® is not only the ideal soundproof material for acoustic insulation via. e.g. sound absorbers in acoustic ceilings. With its very good thermal insulation properties and easy processing, Basotect® also impresses when it comes to thermal insulation and air conditioning technology (HVAC).
In automobile manufacturing, Basotect® can be pressed into precisely contoured components, and thus offers optimum sound damping. At the same time it can also function as a thermal shield in the engine compartment, for example.
A very different application can be found in everyday life for cleaning: With its flexible microstructure and gentle, abrasive effect, Basotect® effortlessly cleans tiles, glass ceramic, and stained wallpaper ‒ it works as a dirt eraser without the use of additional cleaning agents. Furthermore, it was tested for harmful substances: Basotect® W is certified to the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® (10.0.74938 HOHENSTEIN HTTI).
